Programs & Services

Madonna Learning Center offers a wide variety of classes and therapies, each one targeting specific needs for our students. These classes range from speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, dance/movement, to physical education. Most therapies are offered 1 – 2 times per week depending on the student’s individual needs. We also offer a variety of after school programs which build upon the success of the core academic day.

Several of our specialized core curriculum classes include:

Movement/Dance Class: Classes align with the National Dance Education Standards and the Common Core Curriculum while addressing physiological, cognitive, social and emotional development. Through the practice of developmental movement patterns important neurological brain-body connections are strengthened and reinforced while also encouraging self-expression, confidence and creativity.

Physical Education: Our concentration is on the development of individual and team sport skills which help develop body awareness, balance and eye-hand coordination. The benefits of physical education for students with disabilities are great – strengthening the body’s core helps students with breathing, speech, digestion, along with increased muscle/movement coordination. Group/team exercise also demonstrates imperative life skills – including teaching, teamwork, conflict resolution and celebrating/losing gracefully. These are skills that will carry students through their academic career and into their adult independency as they seek employment.

Music Class: Madonna Learning Center is fortunate to have Noel Wilkins on staff, who is a certified Orff instructor. The Orff philosophy encourages children to experience music at their own level of understanding and in their natural environment of play. Improvisation is encouraged which allows our students to explore the possibilities in music.

Madonna Learning Center provides a nurturing faith-based educational and social environment that empowers young and adult students with special needs to reach their full potential while offering support to their families.
