Capital Campaign

The Madonna Learning Center has announced the first capital campaign in our history!  The “Transforming Lives. Building a Brighter Future” Campaign was publicly launched at our ground breaking on May 14, 2014 with the goal of raising $10 million. We were at a crossroads – our building is 50 years old, we were limited by our space and have a wait-list for our services. We do so much --- but can do SO much more with additional space which will help countless children, young adults and families.

The campaign has several key initiatives:

  • Building construction/renovations to current classroom building: Enhancements will be made to the current building so we can have a new preschool classroom, plus an art room, music/dance room, speech room and occupational therapy room;
  • New outside play space: We need safe and secure space for our students to play ---- so a new sheltered playground will be constructed for Group 1; a new playground for older children will be constructed closer to the school;
  • Adult Life Skills Program Building: We will construct a new building for our Adult Program students with room for five work groups.  The building will feature an accessible kitchen and laundry facility, a recreation room and a calm room;
  • Construction of a new multi-purpose gym/performance space: The last phase of our project will be functional space to allow for cross programming in physical education and the performance arts. Exercise and team sports are important to our student’s growth; consequently, we will feature adaptive exercise equipment, expanded room for yoga and group sporting competitions. The building will also feature a performance stage including two dressing rooms; and
  • Endowment funding: Part of our campaign goal is to increase our endowment to $2 million. Annual interest in this fund will provide funding to sustain our student scholarships. We firmly believe tuition assistance should be available for in-need student families.

After our construction is completed, we intend to:

  1. Double the size of the total student body at Madonna Learning Center over the course of the project;
  2. Provide 20 new total student slots – through the addition of a Preschool and several slots in Group 1-3; and
  3. Partner with 2-3 local companies that will support our job training program and develop a "Post Adult Program," where graduates can come for continued learning/classes and socialization.

We began construction in May of 2014 – and hosted school at the Hope Presbyterian Church for the 2014-2015 academic year. Even with a severe weather delays and a long winter, Linkous Construction completed the project in just 13 months! We opened the doors to a brand new Madonna Learning Center in time for academic year 2015-2016!

We have assembled a special campaign video, we invite you to watch it online here.
