Adult Program Services

Madonna Learning Center offers adult services for young adults (18+) through the Adult Program (AP). This program, established in 2008, enables young adults to further develop independent living skills.

The Adult Program consists of three classes, Life-Centered Education (LCE), Work-Based Learning (WBL), and continuing education class, which operate 5 days/week between 8:00am – 3:00pm, and has a current enrollment of 23 adults, with a maximum capacity of 50. Students learn critical pre-vocational/work skills, life skills (independency), social and emotional development classes and academic and educational skills.

Madonna Learning Center participates in work-based learning, a program that is designed to ease the transition between work and school while reinforcing job and life skills. We work with area businesses to create a realistic work experience that will enable trainees to develop positive work ethics
and values such as honesty, loyalty, and integrity.  Research has shown that experiential learning promotes intellectual maturity, personal growth, career awareness, and civic and social responsibility. Employers, therefore, provide students with a means to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to make appropriate and informed career and educational decisions.  Madonna is fortunate to partner with eleven local businesses --- including Corky's BBQ, Embassy Suites, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Salon Dixie, Germantown Methodist, The Germantown Library, Frank Grisanti's Restaurant, MemPops, and Pony Pucks--- to provide opportunities for job coaching and possible future employment. If you would like more information about work-based learning, please contact our work-based learning coordinator, Leigh Ellis.

Many of our alumni have advanced their education to college or have gained employment. One of our graduates is also a teaching assistant at our school!

Madonna Learning Center also offers a part-time/full-time, continuing education program for adults. CEC is designed to help reinforce independent living and academic skills while engaging adults in meaningful activities such as meal planning, shopping, cooking, banking, time management, book clubs, recreational activities, and community awareness.
